JULY 2018
Over the past 15 years, I have designed, created, managed, and improved the accounting processes, interfaces, and reporting used by all of our divisions. I have been the lead internal resource and driver behind multiple Microsoft Dynamics NAV upgrades. Additionally, as the sole administrator for this system and the entire network, I have trained and supported all Dynamics NAV functions including add on payroll, manufacturing and resource management modules.
For several years, I managed the Microsoft Dynamics system without external third party assistance or a software maintenance agreement, as our company faced financial constraints. Thankfully, we have had many successes over the past few years, and I am now in the position to evaluate options for our next Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or accounting software solution.
Having begun my review of solutions to best fit the company’s future needs, I am reminiscent of past years when I led much larger accounting departments. We had faced a wider range of demands, as we had a substantially more diverse base of customers and products at that time. I will readily admit that I miss the complexities and challenges of that role. However, I am excited with the coming opportunities to improve our financial and managerial processes and communication through careful selection and internally focused implementation of new software.
JULY 2021
In early 2019, I spearheaded the company’s migration to Sage Intacct, and consider it to be a great success! Not only has moving to Intacct saved the company a good deal of money, this move has also been very well received by all levels of our organization.
One clear strength of the Intacct SaaS system is that Sage offers very affordable employee level users, so we have been able to increase the number of managers utilizing the system. These additional system users have gained access to very timely data in dashboards that were designed for them individually. In building these dashboards and custom reports for each manager, I was able to provide relevant project and department data summaries with drill down to the full Sales, Purchasing and GL level detail. I admit that the Microsoft Dynamics ERP system did also have a couple of its own advantageous over Intacct; however, overall moving to Sage Intacct has been the right decision.
